After reviewing how best to support a mission of educating the public-at-large on current,
future and past activities, a national public news and education feed decided to end its
linear analog feed. The feed had previously been a mix of information for news outlets
and educational venues. End users were challenged to record the correct items from the
feed.

Selecting WEGENER® technology supported a rapid launch of 4 digital video feeds –
3 external, 1 internal. The new end-to-end environment provided a new level of
sophistication for managing multiple live feeds and digital media archives. The network
was provided tools to integrate supplementary educational data files with their feeds.
They were also able to implement an occasional-use internal feed for secure corporate
communications.
Services targeted to end users at educational revenues, such schools and museums benefit
from the switch to store-forward technology. High quality video feeds will be supplemented with educational materials, such as presentations, pictures, discussion notes, additional video clips, etc.. The educational materials, stored locally on iPump® Media Servers, will be accessible via TV monitors, desktops and interactive kiosks. As a satellite-based solution, live video events will not overwhelm the local IT infrastructure. The distribution method will enable educators to view all linear programming on-demand with integrated VCR controls - creating a flexible classroom environment with the ability to switch between resources.
The News and Educational Feed used WEGENER technology to:
- Launch 4 separate feeds to cater to a diverse set of end-users
- Manage live events from 15 sites
- Enhance educational feed with supplementary materials for museum and classroom applications
- Add digital asset management of growing media library
- Support internal corporate communications
