Duluth, Ga. -- May 9, 1997 -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR) announced the introduction of the Unity ™ Digital Broadcast Product Family. Unity is a family of DVB compliant products for video, audio, and data broadcasting offering unequaled flexibility for network operators. All Unity receivers may be controlled through Wegener's Compel ™ control software and operate on a common transmission platform with specific sites enabled for different capabilities (video, audio, data, or a combination) based on customer needs.

The Unity product family is a multi-format, DVB compliant transmission platform for the Television, Radio, Private Network, and Data Broadcasting industries. Unity receivers can be configured for video, multiple audio channels, and both low and high speed broadcast data distribution. Plug and Play expansion cards allow Unity receivers to specifically meet the diverse needs of the industry groups Wegener serves.

The Unity product family includes the Unity private network receiver and the Unity broadcast receiver. The private network receiver is designed specifically for distance learning, business television, and other private network needs. The broadcast receiver's feature set is designed for television and radio broadcasting applications. Both receivers provide simultaneous distribution of video, audio, and data as MCPC (multiple-channel- per-carrier) or SCPC (single-channel-per-carrier) transmissions.
