NBC NEWS CHANNEL CONTINUES DIGITAL GROWTH WITH WEGENER

RECENT ORDERS EXCEED $750 THOUSAND

June 9, 1998 - Duluth, GA: Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR) announced it has received orders from ASCENT Network Services, a division of ASCENT Entertainment Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:GOAL), for Wegener digital video products utilized by NBC News Channel.

Previously, at an affiliates meeting (NAB, Las Vegas, April 5, 1998) NBC News Channel announced its commitment to Wegener digital video products and ASCENT Network support services for NBC News Channel's DSNG (Digital Satellite News Gathering) activities. Since that announcement ASCENT has placed orders exceeding $750 thousand with Wegener Communications. The orders for DVT digital video encoders and UNITY digital video receivers are used at both NBC affiliate stations and in remote vehicles for DSNG. Both ASCENT and Wegener Communications expect additional orders from NBC News Channel and its affiliates.
