WEGENER NAMES NEW PRESIDENT
KEITH N. SMITH, PRESIDENT, WEGENER COMMUNICATION June 22, 1998 - Duluth, GA: Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR) announced it has named Keith N. Smith, age 39, as President of Wegener Communications, Inc. Smith joined Wegener as Vice President, Business Development just over one year ago. In this capacity Mr. Smith has led Wegener's Strategic Planning and Marketing Departments. ``I'm excited at the opportunity we have for success at Wegener,'' Mr. Smith stated. ``The UNITY family of digital broadcasting products we've introduced in the past year, teamed with the introduction of COMPEL Advanced Network Control have created an excellent foundation for further product development and company growth.'' Prior to joining Wegener, Keith N. Smith was Vice President/General Manager of Microspace Communications Corporation. Mr. Smith was a co-founder of Microspace, and led the company to become the world's largest provider of satellite broadcast data and audio services. He has had a 14 year satellite industry career serving in both business and engineering management. ``Keith has both the technical background and the market vision to move our company forward,'' stated Wegener Chairman/CEO Robert A.
