PAX TV PLACES ADDITIONAL ORDERS FOR WEGENER UNITY
October 12, 1998 - Duluth, GA: Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ - WGNR) announced today that during the companys 4th quarter recently ended, Paxson Communications Corporation (AMEX - PAX) placed a follow-on order for Wegener UNITY4000 satellite digital video receivers for network distribution. Recent orders total over $1 million. These orders are the result of the high demand for PAX TV programming in the cable industry. "The Wegener UNITY receiver accommodates the needs of both the PAX TV owned and operated stations as well as cable operators," said Dave Glenn, PAX TV Vice President of Engineering. "The UNITY digital broadcasting platform and COMPEL Network Control provides PAX TV with unparalleled satellite network management. No one else comes close to meeting our new networks requirements." Wegeners patented addressable command and control system, COMPEL, combined with the corresponding receiver feature-set in the UNITY4000, gives PAX TV control of the diverse broadcast and cable systems at the touch of a button.
