THOMAS G. ELLIOT JOINS WEGENER BOARD OF DIRECTORS

October 21, 1998 - Duluth, GA: Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR), announced that Thomas G. Elliot has joined the Board of Directors for Wegener Corporation. Mr. Elliot, Senior Vice President of Technical Projects at CableLabs, has over 30 years in all phases of technical management helping build Telecommunications, Inc. (TCI) into the largest CATV operator in the world. He was Vice President of TCI Communications, Inc. and Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technical Services for TCI Cable Management Corporation.

A frequent speaker on both microwave and CATV, Mr. Elliot has also published numerous papers on these subjects. He is past Chairman of the Board and At-large Director of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, founder of the SCTE Interface Practices Committee, and serves on the NCTA Engineering Committee and Education and Training Committee for the CATV Center and Museum. In addition, Mr. Elliot is Chairman of the CableLabs TAC Operations Subcommittee and, along with two co-honorees, was named 1992 CED Man of the Year. He received the 1993 NCTA Vanguard Award for Science and Technology, and was inducted into the SCTE Hall of Fame in1998.
