WEGENER UNITY4422 DEBUTS IN EUROPE

Duluth, GA. – March 2, 1999 – Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR), announced it has received orders for UNITY4422 digital receivers from SatService Gesellschaft für Kommunikationssysteme mbH (SatService GmbH), a distributor of Wegener products for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The UNITY4422 is designed for high quality contribution and distribution video networks. The receiver features automatic detection of MPEG 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 video plus both SCPC and MCPC operation. UNITY Option Cards allow the UNITY4422 to expand its feature set to include high speed broadcast data and RF feed switching.

This equipment will be used by the Swiss SRG SSR and Nordeutscher Rundfunk, Hamburg, Germany for Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) reception. Both organizations are end customers of SatService GmbH, which installs the receivers, together with the SatService developed monitoring & controls system turnkey at the customers’ sites.
