FOX CABLE NETS GROW WITH UNITY—NEW ORDER OVER $1.8 MILLION

NAB, Las Vegas -- April 19, 1999 -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR) announced it has received an order from FOX for additional UNITY MPEG2 digital IRD's. FOX Sports Net will utilize the UNITY4000 in its ongoing network expansion.

FOX initially ordered Wegener UNITY and COMPEL, Wegener’s Patented network control system, in May 1997, as it began conversion from analog to digital distribution for FOX Sports Net and FX Networks. This order brings the total number of UNITY IRD’s supplied to FOX to over 9,000, rivaling any single purchase commitment for IRD’s ever in the cable industry.
