FOX BROADCASTING COMPANY LAUNCHES DIGITAL WITH UNITY

NAB, Las Vegas -- April 21, 1999 -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR) announced it has received an order from FOX Broadcasting Company for UNITY4422 IRD’s (Integrated Receiver Decoders). Designed for the most demanding DTV applications, FOX will use the UNITY4422 to deliver high quality MPEG 4:2:2 video feeds from the FOX Network to its largest affiliates.

FOX Vice President, Paul F. Beeman, states, “The Wegener UNITY4422 IRD was selected for this mission critical application as the dawn of digital television approaches. We can count on Wegener Communications to support us in initiating these new digital feeds to meet FCC deadlines.”

The Federal Communications Commission has mandated that major broadcast television networks provide digital television feeds to the top 30 market stations by November 1, 1999.
