WEGENER UNITY CHOSEN BY SWEDISH BROADCASTER

Duluth, GA – May 18, 1999 – Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR), announced it has received an order from TERACOM Svensk Rundradio AB for a UNITY business television system. This includes UNITY401 digital receivers plus COMPEL control and COMPEL-CA, Wegener’s patented network control system with encryption.

This system enables TERACOM to create and control virtual networks for corporate television and data services. Using the UNITYMUX4010, TERACOM will be able to add COMPEL control to any satellite uplink. This will allow the use of any available bandwidth while maintaining complete control of all receivers in the network.

"This network will demonstrate the power of the COMPEL network control system to create and change virtual networks to take advantage of lower cost available bandwidth."
