AUTOTOTE CHOOSES WEGENER UNITY FOR LIVE VIDEO FROM RACETRACKS

Duluth, GA – September 3, 1999 – Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR), announced it has received an order for approximately $4 million from Autotote Communication Services Division, an affiliate of Autotote Corporation (AMEX: TTE), for UNITY digital transmission equipment including UNITY401 Receivers, DiviCom MPEG-2 video encoders plus COMPEL control. In this application, live pari-mutuel racing signals will be transmitted utilizing MPEG-2 DVB compatible digital video via satellite from racetracks to off-track facilities throughout North America. This technology and quality upgrade of Autotote's networks will provide enhanced video quality, greater ease of use for receiving facilities, and improved reliability.

COMPEL Control is a key reason Autotote chose Wegener. COMPEL provides Autotote complete automated control of both remote uplinks and the entire network of receivers.
