PAUL HARR JOINS WEGENER COMMUNICATIONS
AS VICE PRESIDENT MARKETING

Duluth, GA— October 20, 1999 — Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR), announced today that Paul A. Harr has joined Wegener Communications as Vice President Marketing. Mr. Harr will be responsible for directing all of Wegener's marketing and strategic planning efforts.

Previously with Scientific Atlanta's Digital Subscriber and Satellite Television Network Divisions as Director of Marketing, Mr. Harr was responsible for identifying Satellite Broadcasting and Cable opportunities worldwide while managing internal and external product and marketing strategies for these segments. Mr. Harr holds a MBA degree in Business Management and a BA degree in Marketing from Georgia State University. In addition, Mr. Harr has authored several technical white papers and hasbeen a speaker for major conferences in the Broadcasting and Cable industries.
