Wegener Receives Orders for Broadcast and Cable Distribution Equipment in Excess of $1 million

(May 7, 2001) - DULUTH, Georgia - Wegener Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of digital satellite transmission equipment to broadcast television and cable networks worldwide, announced today that it has received orders for more than $1 million from two major customers for UNITY4422 series digital receivers. Both customers purchased these additional Wegener receivers for continuing network expansion. With these orders expected to be delivered by the end of May, 2001, Wegener Communications expects to recognize revenues from these orders in the current fiscal quarter.
