Wegener Ships Initial Phase of $30 Million Order to International Private Network Operator

(June 18, 2001) – DULUTH, Georgia – Wegener Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of digital satellite transmission equipment to broadcast television and cable networks worldwide, announced today that it has shipped the COMPEL uplink management system as part of the previously announced five-year order worth more than $30 million to a major international private network operator. The order is for Wegener's UNITY series digital receivers and COMPEL uplink management system to deliver programming to network subscribers. The COMPEL system is used to manage the entire network.

Wegener will ship UNITY series digital receivers for this order over the next five years, shipping approximately $6 million in product per year. Wegener is scheduled to ship $1.5 million worth of product per quarter for the life of the contract; which is equivalent to approximately one-third of recent quarterly revenue.
