Wegener Awarded Digital Receivers Contract from Salem Music Network

(June 28, 2001) – DULUTH, Georgia – Wegener Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of digital satellite transmission equipment to broadcast television and cable networks worldwide, announced today that during the Company's recently-completed fiscal third quarter it received an order from the Salem Music Network for UNITY series digital receivers and COMPEL Network Management and Control System to deliver music programming to audio network subscribers. The contract value is approximately $130,000 with shipment anticipated during Wegener's fourth fiscal quarter of 2001.

Using Wegener-supplied UNITY decoders and the proprietary COMPEL Network Management and Control System, Salem will be able to supply religious-themed programming to its network of affiliates throughout North America. Using Wegener UNITY decoders, affiliates can download, store, and rebroadcast Salem-supplied content at times determined by the affiliates.
