Wegener Awarded over $30 Million Order for Satellite Broadcast Products

(January 16, 2001) – DULUTH, Georgia – Wegener Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of digital satellite transmission equipment to broadcast television and cable networks worldwide, announced today that it has received orders totaling over $30 million from a major international private network operator. The order is for Wegener's UNITY series digital receivers and COMPEL uplink management system to deliver programming to network subscribers.

Wegener will ship products for this order over the next five years, with initial shipments scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2001. Upon commencement of shipping, Wegener is scheduled to ship $1.5 million worth of product per quarter for the life of the contract. Wegener's 18 month backlog will increase by $6.0 million, bringing total 18 month backlog to $22.1 million.
