WEGENER UNITY5000 "BACKBONE" of SUPER BOWL XXXVI COVERAGE

(February 7, 2002) - DULUTH, Georgia - Wegener Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR) a leading provider of satellite transmission solutions for broadcast and cable television networks worldwide, today announced that its recently deployed network of UNITY5000 satellite receivers were used to carry Super Bowl XXXVI feeds in standard as well as the new 16:9 digital FOX WIDESCREEN(TM) formats to all FOX U.S. affiliates.

Super Bowl XXXVI marked the debut of full commercial service for the new FOX DIGITAL television satellite system. Each FOX Broadcast affiliate is equipped with multiple Wegener UNITY5000 receivers for reception of network feeds. FOX affiliates use these receivers to broadcast both analog and digital television transmissions serving the viewing audience.

The Wegener UNITY5000 provides advanced features including multiple analog and digital outputs, 8PSK demodulation, and DVB ASI input/output capability. It is the premier product in the Wegener UNITY series of DVB MPEG digital satellite receivers.
