WEGENER CORPORATION REPORTS IMPROVED SECOND QUARTER RESULTS

(March 21, 2002) - DULUTH, Georgia - Wegener Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR) today announced results for the second quarter of fiscal 2002, ended March 1, 2002. Wegener’s revenues for the second quarter of fiscal 2002 were $5.9 million, with net earnings of $256,000, or $0.02 per share, compared to revenues of $3.8 million, and a net loss of $1.2 million, or $(0.10) per share, for the second quarter of fiscal year 2001. The Company’s eighteen-month order backlog was $14.8 million at March 1, 2002.

Results for the first six months of fiscal year 2002 showed revenue growth of 35% compared with fiscal year 2001. Actual revenues were $11.9 million with net earnings of $388,000, or $0.03 per share, compared to revenues of $8.8 million and a net loss of $1.8 million, or $(0.15) per share, for the first six months of fiscal year 2001.
