WEGENER'S DTV700 DELIVERS HDTV FOR DIGITAL CABLE NAB, Las Vegas -- April 9, 2002 -- WEGENER Corporation (NASDAQ: WGNR) announces the DTV700 processor, an innovative product allowing cable operators to economically process terrestrial digital television signals (HDTV) for carriage to cable subscribers. The DTV700 can multiplex 2 or more signals and process them in a manner compatible with current digital cable standards. "The DTV700 offers advanced features at a price point that is attracting major industry interest", said Ned Mountain, WEGENER Executive Vice President. "As the consumer interest in HDTV increases, so will the need for this product, which is a critical element in the cable processing chain." The DTV700 will simply process off air 8VSB digital television signals and enable them to be injected in digital cable plants. A built-in multiplex feature allows for combining two 8VSB broadcast signals into a single digital output. It does all this in a compact one rack unit high package. WEGENER President and CEO Robert A. Placek added "In showing this to key cable clients ahead of it's formal introduction the DTV700 has generated more excitement than any cable product the company has introduced in recent years." The DTV 700 is on display at the NAB Conference in Las Vegas at WEGENERs booth #S3508 in the Sands Expo Center. First shipments for the DTV 700 are scheduled for May 2002.
