WEGENER INTRODUCES THE UNITY4600 FOR CABLE
Cost effective receiver for cable network distribution

(January 13, 2003) — DULUTH, Georgia — WEGENER Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR) today introduced the UNITY4600, a new satellite receiver for satellite distribution of cable networks.

"We have talked to cable programmers over the past year about what they want to see in a next generation satellite receiver", said WEGENER Communications Executive Vice President Ned Mountain. "The UNITY4600 is the result of that research. It provides the cable headend with both digital and analog outputs, plus optionally can be equipped with a bandwidth efficient 8PSK turbo demod."

The UNITY4600 comes in a one-rack unit package, with standard digital ASI out plus analog video output. The unit features two stereo audio outputs, a built in 4 way RF switch, integrated graphics overlay, and VBI support. COMPEL Network Control of both analog and digital outputs, and COMPEL Conditional Access are integrated into every UNITY4600 IRD. The UNITY4600 will operate at both analog and digital cable headends, allowing cable programmers to operate their networks with one standard IRD.
