Precis Communications selects WEGENER iPump for Cable Distribution

iPumps Will Provide Program Delivery and Ad Insertion

(May 8, 2003) – DULUTH, Georgia – WEGENER Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR) announced today that it received an order from Precis Communications for iPump Media Servers and the MediaPlan i/o content ingest system. This is the first order placed for the new full featured iPump following a successful demonstration in April at the NAB (National Association Of Broadcasters) Show in Las Vegas.

“WEGENER provides us with the complete system” states Precis CEO Dan Ryan. “Other companies had some of the pieces, but WEGENER has both the content management software and the right hardware for in the field. It allows us to combine real time delivery with stored commercial content that we will send to the iPump Media Servers.”

Precis will be adding MediaPlan i/o and iPump Media Servers to their existing network that utilizes WEGENER’s COMPEL Network Control System with UNITY500 receivers at cable systems.
Precis Communications takes local off-air signals and then broadcasts them via satellite for carriage in rural cable headends. The company will be expanding these services to include repackaging cable programming with custom ad insertion.
