WEGENER
RECEIVES 2.5 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT FOR NEW DIGITAL TELEVISION PROCESSING
PRODUCTS
Duluth, Ga. – November 24, 2003 --- WEGENER Corporation
(NASDAQ: WGNR) today announced the receipt of a 2.5 million dollar contract
with MEGA HERTZ, their strategic distributor in the United States. The
order focuses on new products within WEGENER’s DTV line of 8VSB
demodulators and multiplexers. WEGENER DTV products aid cable MSOs to
comply with FCC HDTV carriage regulations by converting off-the-air
high definition television (HDTV) signals into a format that easily
connects to the cable plant infrastructure.
“This new line of DTV processing products provides the most economical
method for cable headends to easily offer HDTV channels to their cable
subscribers,” states Ned Mountain, WEGENER Executive Vice President.
Mr. Mountain continues, “MEGA HERTZ has been distributing the
DTV products since their inception and we are pleased to have a major
stocking distribution partner with such close ties to the cable industry.”
The long-term partnership between WEGENER and MEGA HERTZ was established
over twenty years ago and has proven very profitable for both companies.
Today’s contract provides MEGA HERTZ with exclusive rights to
distribute WEGENER’s new DTV products throughout 2004.
“MEGA HERTZ has been selling the present line of WEGENER DTV products
for over 14 months and we are very excited about the new products being
introduced in this line during 2004. We have seen a sneak preview of
these products and feel that they will be widely accepted by the cable
MSO community,” states Steve Grossman, Product Manager of MEGA
HERTZ. We are proud to continue the long-standing representation of
Wegener products in the cable television marketplace.
