WEGENER INTRODUCES EXPANDED HDTV PROCESSOR LINE AT NAB2004

(April 19, 2004) - DULUTH, Georgia – WEGENER Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of satellite transmission solutions for broadcast and cable television networks worldwide, today announced two new products in their DTV Digital Television Stream Processor product line:
• WEGENER DTV-744 4-Channel 8VSB Demodulator, and
• WEGENER DTV-742 4-Channel 8VSB Multiplexor.
WEGENER is demonstrating both products at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention 2004 in Las Vegas from April 19 – 22.

“WEGENER DTV products provide cable operators a convenient, space-efficient and cost-effective method to add local broadcasts of high definition channels to their line-up,” states Ned Mountain, Executive Vice President of WEGENER. “All in one rack unit, the DTV products accept four 8VSB off-air signals and convert them to digital ASI, a format that directly integrates into existing digital cable plant infrastructure.”

WEGENER DTV 742 4-Channel 8VSB Multiplexor is designed for mid to small size cable operators who need to do some multiplexing but cannot justify the large-scale multiplexors on the market. It allows full Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP), Packet Identification (PID) and program number manipulation, to convert the incoming streams to allow seamless insertion into the cable stream.

WEGENER DTV 744 4-Channel 8VSB Demodulator is intended for large cable operators who need a space-efficient way to receive off-air high definition broadcasts and quickly insert them into their large multiplexors. It allows Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) pass-through, to allow operators to maintain compliance with Federal Communications Commission, FCC, regulations.
