WEGENER ANNOUNCES RECENT FOURTH QUARTER ORDER ACTIVITY

(August 5, 2004) - DULUTH, Georgia – WEGENER™ Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of satellite transmission solutions for broadcast and cable television networks worldwide, today announced a number of new product orders. These new product orders reflect an expansion of WEGENER’s existing network relationships, a new WEGENER network deployment and two new distribution channels.

Expanded Network Relationships
Network expansion and completion is underway at several existing WEGENER customers, driving adoption of additional WEGENER products. Ascent Media, a Liberty Media Company, ordered additional WEGENER iPump® Network Servers to continue installing their business television customer’s network. Scientific Games ordered new uplink equipment to fulfill a contract award they recently received. In addition, USDTV ordered a Compel™ Network Control System to complete their WEGENER System and enable them to control the Unity 4600 receivers they have previously purchased from WEGENER.

New Network Deployment
WEGENER also reports that a new network customer recently purchased a complete uplink from WEGENER for satellite distribution of a broadcast channel. We are excited to deploy our technology at another network and we look forward to building on this new relationship while continuing to penetrate the network television market.”

New Distribution Channels
During the second half of the fiscal year, WEGENER has added two new domestic distributors for the Unity product line: Satellite Engineering Group of Kansas City, MO and Advanced Media Technologies of Deerfield Beach, Florida. Ned Mountain, Executive Vice President of WEGENER stated, “With these two distribution agreements now in place, we have effectively expanded our sales force. We are confident that Satellite Engineering Group and Advanced Media Technologies will be successful in driving sales of our Unity products to additional end customers.”
