(November 17, 2004) - DULUTH, Georgia – WEGENER® Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of television, audio and data distribution network solutions worldwide, is demonstrating its innovative products to telecommunications service providers interested in television distribution at the TelcoTV 2004 Conference. WEGENER will show its recently introduced consumer SMD 515 Streaming Media Settop, targeted advertising technology, as well as its professional DTV Off-Air Processors. WEGENER will demonstrate live decoding of high definition Windows Media 9 (WM9) and MPEG-2 streams through the SMD 515. The SMD 515 offers viewers an entirely high-definition experience due to its cutting-edge on-screen program guide that automatically displays in widescreen format when connected to a suitable television, plasma or LCD monitor. “Our SMD 515 uses WM9 advanced video coding, which makes it more than two times as bandwidth efficient as standard MPEG-2 devices,” stated Ned Mountain, Executive Vice President of WEGENER. “This is a tremendous benefit to telecom companies, as it allows them to offer high-definition television services over their existing bandwidth-limited infrastructures.” At video central offices, telecom providers can use WEGENER’s DTV Off-Air 8VSB Receivers to receive high definition channels from local broadcasters and seamlessly insert the programming into their video distribution systems. WEGENER’s second generation of DTV products was released to customers earlier this year. The 3rd annual TelcoTV Conference & Expo is being held in Orlando, Florida on November 17 and November 18, 2004. WEGENER’s product demonstrations will take place at booth #619.
