(December 2, 2004) - DULUTH, Georgia – WEGENER Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading global provider of television, audio and data distribution network solutions, announced orders spanning fiscal 2004 and 2005 from Roberts Communications Network (“Roberts”) for a 20 channel direct-to-home (“DTH”) satellite distribution network expansion. Roberts owns and operates the DTH platform in partnership with Racetrack Television Network (“RTN”) which provides the services to subscribers. The order includes equipment and services of over $580,000 in WEGENER’s fourth quarter of fiscal 2004 and over $380,000 in first quarter fiscal 2005. The network expansion allows RTN to offer 40 channels of live racing to its subscribers through the DTH platform. The RTN DTH platform distributes live broadcasts of greyhound, harness and thoroughbred racing events throughout the United States. The new equipment also provides subscribers with scheduled rebroadcast of racing events. In addition to the DTH platform, Roberts Communications Network operates the pari-mutuel industry's largest satellite distribution network, delivering horse and greyhound racing simulcasts to racetracks, off-track betting outlets, and casino race books throughout North America on a year-round basis. The Roberts network owns and operates 53 uplink facilities, 115 encoding/compression systems and over 6,000 integrated receiver-decoders (“IRDs”) located at downlink sites across North America. WEGENER satellite receivers process a majority of the horse and dog racing broadcasts in the United States. “With so many uplinks and IRDs across the country, our network demands equipment that provides the capacity for expansion,” stated Todd Roberts, President and CEO of Roberts Communications Network. “WEGENER provides rapid response and a network architecture that provides scalability in operating our network, which is imperative in a network where configuration changes occur literally every day as uplink facilities come on and off the air.” “Roberts Communications Network is a pioneering company that continues to expand and develop additional services for their subscribers,” stated Ned Mountain, executive vice president of WEGENER. “We at WEGENER are honored that Roberts Communications Network has been one of our flagship customers for over six years.” ABOUT WEGENER COMMUNICATIONS COMPEL, MEDIAPLAN, ENVOY, UNITY, and iPUMP are trademarks of WEGENER Communications, Inc.
