The MPEG-4 advanced video compression scheme is an important technology tool telco operators will use to launch video service offerings to subscribers. The TelcoTV demonstration will use WEGENER IP set tops to decode both SD and HD video from real and non-real-time AVC MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 video encoders. “We are ready to play our role in this drive for interoperability,” stated Ned Mountain, COO of WEGENER. “The AVC MPEG-4 standard has reached industry acceptance and as an industry we need to ensure that this new technology works seamlessly between encoder and decoder hardware manufacturers.
